Welcome
Thank you for visiting my website. Please accept my deepest appreciation for entrusting me the privilege of representing you and the 20th District in the Virginia House of Delegates for a fourth term.
I am confident we will work together to examine measures to combat crime and illegal immigration, address healthcare and veterans services, and strengthen K-12 as well as higher education in Virginia. With Operational Review Teams completing their recommendations, I anticipate working closely with my colleagues in the Cost Cutting Caucus to enact those recommendations as well as other policies to move
· HB 1164 Public/Private Education Investment Tax Credit – This legislation creates income tax credits for businesses and individual taxpayers who make contributions to eligible public school foundations and eligible scholarship foundations. Fostering this type of investment will create more educational opportunities for all students.
· HB 322 Fundraising during General Assembly session – This legislation prohibits General Assembly members from attending fundraisers during session. Legislators should be tending the important issues facing Virginia and their constituents, not be attending fundraisers during session.· HB 1238 Commonwealth Realignment Commission – This legislation creates a commission to review the operations of state agencies and state-funded programs with a view toward the reduction of nonessential programs and expenditures.
· HB 324 Department of Accounts – This legislation creates a collections agency to serve all state agencies and collect accounts receivable. Always, but even more so in tight budget years, better collection methods can yield millions in revenue.· HB 1163 Transparency in Taxation – This legislation will create an online database where taxpayers can access breakdowns detailing how their tax dollars are being spent.
I have also introduced legislation to move all elections to November, study merit pay for teachers, and study companion animal issues. Additionally, I have introduced legislation to reduce unnecessary regulation based on the findings of the Attorney General’s Regulatory Reform Task Force. Others bills come from Cost Cutting Caucus projects and are designed to make government agencies perform more efficiently. To see a complete list of my legislation click here.
Your input has been invaluable in the past and I would appreciate it going forward. Please take my 2008 Legislative Survey and call my office at (540) 886-8284 or email me at delcsaxman@house.state.va.us with any thoughts or suggestions you may have, or if there is any way I may be of assistance. Thank you again for the trust you have placed in me these last six years and I look forward to continuing our work to build a stronger, better Commonwealth for all Virginians.
Sincerely,
Chris Saxman
